Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W810: manual and instructions

Getting started

1. Battery Open the cover and slide in the NP-BN battery. The manual warns that it is not suitable for Cyber-shots supplied with an NP-BN1.
2. Charging It charges in the camera while switched off, via the USB cable and the AC-UB10C AC adaptor: about 115 min. The lamp goes out when it's done and flashes if the temperature isn't right. A computer can charge it too.
3. Card Slide the card in with the bevelled corner facing the right way. It takes Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick Micro, SD and microSD. Without a card, there are 29 MB of internal memory. Format the card in the camera before using it: this erases it.
4. Switching on for the first time Press ON/OFF, choose the language, then your area. Set the date format, summer time and the date, then confirm with [OK]. To come back to it: MENU, Settings, Clock Settings.
5. Your first photo Press the shutter button halfway to focus, then all the way down. The W/T lever zooms. To film, one press of MOVIE starts recording and a second press stops it.

Good to know

• It is not dustproof, splashproof or waterproof: keep it away from sand and rain.
• Condensation after going from the cold into the warm? Switch it off and wait about an hour before taking pictures.
• In continuous use, the camera and battery get warm. If it shuts down to protect itself, let it cool before switching it back on.
