Before and after you buy

Delivery and returns

A forty-year-old camera travels badly if it’s badly packed. Here’s how your parcel is sent, what it costs you, what to do if it arrives damaged, and how to send it back if you change your mind.

In four points

The essentials

  • Tracked parcelEvery parcel goes out with a tracking number, sent by email when it ships.
  • Free in France from €150Delivery is free on orders from €150 in mainland France.
  • 14 days to change your mindReturns with no reason needed, and a full refund of the item price.
  • Packed by handEach camera is individually padded: it takes longer, and it’s what prevents breakages.

Where and how much

Rates and destinations

The exact amount is shown in your basket as soon as you’ve entered your address, before any payment. We ship through a broker that compares carriers: depending on the destination, you’ll be offered several options at checkout.

Delivery times depend on the carrier chosen and are shown at checkout. We’d rather not state them here than promise a time frame we don’t control.
DestinationAvailable optionsFrom
Mainland France Pickup point or home delivery €5 to a pickup point, €8.50 to your door, free on orders from €150
European Union Pickup point depending on destination, or home delivery Depends on the country, shown in your basket before you pay
French overseas territories Home delivery or whatever the carrier offers €35, shown in your basket before you pay

French overseas territories and outside the European Union: taxes on arrival

These parcels go through customs in the destination territory. Customs duties, import taxes or dock dues (octroi de mer) may be charged to the recipient on delivery.

These amounts are not set, levied or collected by us: they go to the local authorities and are yours to pay. It’s best to check before you order: we’d rather tell you here than let you find out when you collect the parcel.

What happens after payment

From order to letterbox

Confirmation

An email summarises your order as soon as payment goes through. If it doesn’t arrive, check your spam folder before writing to us: that’s almost always where it is.

Preparation

The camera is checked one last time, then packed. We don’t work with a warehouse and we don’t pack a hundred parcels an hour: every parcel is done by hand, and that takes the time it takes.

Dispatch

You get an email with the tracking number as soon as the parcel is handed to the carrier. Tracking can take a few hours to go live on the carrier’s side: that’s normal.

Delivery

To a pickup point or to your door, whichever you chose. As the law requires, delivery takes place no later than 30 days after you order. In practice, well before that.

How we pack

Why our parcels are a little oversized

A film camera is metal, glass and mechanisms adjusted to a hundredth of a millimetre. What kills it in transit isn’t a sharp knock, it’s constant vibration and room to move inside the box.

So every camera leaves individually padded, with the lens protected separately when it comes off, in a box bigger than it needs to be. Any accessories included are packed separately so they don’t knock against the body.

It follows directly from our testing method : there’d be no sense in checking a camera for an hour only to let it break after two days in a lorry.

Parcel arrived damaged?

Don’t automatically refuse it. Open it, in front of the delivery driver if you can, and look at the camera.

If the box is visibly damaged, write specific reservations with the carrier (“box crushed, camera to be checked” rather than just “subject to inspection”), then photograph the packaging and the contents.

Send those photos to contact@analoggwerz.com within the next few days: we take it up with the carrier and work out a solution with you. That’s our job, not yours.

If something’s wrong

Returns and refunds

Buying a camera you’ve never held deserves the right to change your mind. The law provides for it, and we don’t try to make it complicated.

Changed your mind: 14 days

You have 14 days from receipt to tell us you’re withdrawing from your purchase, without having to give a reason. An email to contact@analoggwerz.com is enough: no compulsory form, no reason to tick.

The camera must then be sent back to us within 14 days of your message, complete (accessories, case, manual if they were supplied) and packed with the same care as on the way out.

What a return costs

The return postage is at your expense. From the overseas territories or from abroad, that can be a real sum, so check before you ship. If in doubt, write to us and we’ll work out together what makes most sense.

We recommend a tracked and properly insured service: until the parcel reaches us, the risk is yours.

The refund

It covers the full amount paid, including the original delivery charge (at the standard rate), and is made no later than 14 days after we receive the return (or proof that it was sent). It goes back to the payment method used for the order.

You can handle the camera as you would in a shop: try it, open it, fire the shutter. However, any loss in value caused by handling beyond that examination may be deducted from the refund. That’s the legal rule, and in practice it rarely comes up.

The camera has a technical fault

Then it’s no longer a return, it falls under the legal guarantee, and that isn’t limited to 14 days. Write to us describing the problem, with photos or video if it’s visible: we look for the simplest solution first.

As every camera is a one-off, a like-for-like exchange is rarely possible: depending on the case, it’s settled by a repair, a price reduction or cancelling the sale. Full details of your rights are on the page conditions and guarantees.

A question before you order?

It’s always better than disappointment afterwards. A product page that says nothing about something that matters to you, a doubt about whether a lens is compatible, torn between two cameras: write to contact@analoggwerz.com. We’d rather lose a sale than make one based on a misunderstanding.
