Second-hand Kenko
Second-hand Kenko: the Japanese maker of filters and optical accessories. The filters that have come through the workshop screw onto the front of the lens, in 49 or 52 mm: a polariser to cut reflections, and a Center Focus that keeps the centre sharp and softens the edges. Every filter is checked, glass and thread, then photographed unedited.
Understanding this category
- The right diameterIt’s usually engraved on the front of the lens, preceded by the ⌀ sign: a 52 mm filter screws onto a 52 mm thread.
- The polariserYou turn it on the lens to adjust the effect: reflections on water and windows, a deeper sky.
- The Center FocusThe centre stays sharp, the edges blur: the effect happens in-camera, on film as on digital.
