Getting started
Battery Slide in the EN-EL19 battery while pushing the orange latch.
Charging With the camera off, connect the UC-E6 USB cable to the Nikon EH-69P adapter: about 2 h 30 min. It also charges from a computer, once the language and date are set.
Card With the camera off, push an SD card in until it clicks. A card from another device should be formatted in this one, and formatting erases everything. With no card, it has 42 MB of internal memory.
Switching on for the first time Set the language, time zone, date format, then the date and time.
Photo and video “Shooting mode” button, then “Auto mode”. Zoom, press halfway (the frame turns green), then all the way. The movie button records in HD 720p, 29 minutes at most per clip.
What it can do
18 scene modes, plus a scene auto selector that picks the scene by itself.
Smart portrait: smile detection takes the shot when your subject smiles.
Effects applied as you shoot, including sepia and selective colour.
Panorama assist, to stitch together afterwards on a computer.
Good to know
While a lamp is blinking, don’t open the cover or remove the card or the battery: you’d lose photos.
Until the language, date and time are set, the computer won’t charge it or read the images.
In internal memory, video is limited to VGA resolution.
