The film SLR is the camera that teaches you photography: its mirror sends the image from the lens to the viewfinder, so nothing is guesswork. Each body is tested and checked, shutter and film advance included.
Understanding this category
Fully manualYou set the ISO, shutter speed and aperture. The viewfinder tells you whether the exposure is right. Three rolls of film are enough to get the hang of it.
The mount decidesCanon FD, Nikon F, Pentax K, Olympus OM, Minolta MD, M42 screw mount: a lens only fits its own family. It’s stated on every product page.
With or without a meterOn many models, the battery only powers the light meter: without it, the camera fires normally.
