Sony Handycam DCR-HC23E: second-hand, tested and checked
A Sony Handycam Mini DV camcorder, complete in its box: 20x Carl Zeiss optical zoom, touchscreen and NightShot night mode.
The HC23E records digitally on Mini DV tape: the tape keeps the picture without loss, and you transfer it to a computer through the DV output (i.LINK). It’s the format people look for when they want the grain of 2000s video, or want to play back their own family tapes. The Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens goes from 44 to 880 mm in 35 mm equivalent, SteadyShot stabilisation keeps the picture steady at full zoom, and NightShot plus films in complete darkness using infrared. The EASY button cuts the settings down to the essentials for beginners.

We tested it in the workshop: the camcorder is working. It switches on and the screen shows the picture in recording standby, as in the first photo. Original box with its inserts, worn corners and a torn flap. Light signs of use on the body.
